PUNE: Pune Crime News | Self-styled journalists Mahesh Soudagar Hanme (47) and Dinesh Soudagar Hanme (44), both residents of North Solapur, Solapur district had demanded ₹50 lakh and two flats from a Pune-based builder, according to the available information. The Crime Branch of the Pune police is carrying out a probe. When the Hanme brothers were produced in the Shivaji Nagar court, they were remanded to police custody till May 23, 2023.
The Anti Extortion Cell Pune 2 has arrested self-styled journalists for demanding an extortion of ₹5 crore from the owner of a software company based in Kharadi, Santosh Popat Thorat, a resident of Alcon Society, Kharadi. When the police had gone to arrest them, the Hanme brothers tried to run them over under their car and tried to kill them. The police had fired at the rear tyres of their car and they had been arrested after a chase.
When the Hanme brothers were produced in the court, they were remanded to police custody till May 23, 2023. Meanwhile, another extortion case involving the Hanme brothers has come to light. The Crime Branch police are carrying out an investigation. A construction site of a builder staying in Bhosari is going on in Solapur. Hanme brothers had demanded ₹50 lakh and two flats from him. The builder has contacted the Crime Branch and the police are carrying out a probe.
Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende, ACP Saish Govekar guided a team of officials including Sr PI Pratap Mankar, API Changdev Sajgane, PSI Shrikant Chavan, PSI Mohandas Jadhav, policemen Vijay Gurav, Pradeep Shitole, Vinod Salunke, Sangram Shingare, Surendra Jagdale, Saidoba Bhojrao, Sachin Ahivale, Amol Pilane, Chetan Apte, Anil Mengde, Ishwar Andhale, Rahul Uttarkar, Pavan Bhosale, Chetan Shirole, Pradeep Gade, Kishor Barge and policewoman Asha Kolekar in arresting the Hanme brothers.
The police have issued an appeal that if the Hanme brothers have tied to extort money from anyone, they should contact the Crime Branch of the Pune police.
