Pune : Policenama online – A mother-daughter duo committed suicide due to a chronic illness of the mother. The Haveli police came to know about the suicides at around 2 am on Friday at Kirkatwadi within their jurisdiction.
The victims have been identified as Sangita Dattatraya Khapale (48) and Rekha Dattatraya Khapale (28). Rekha Khapale has left a suicide note.
According to police official Babar, Sangita, Rekha and Rekha’s son stay in a rented house at Kirkatwadi. Rekha was a daily wager. Sangita was suffering from a chronic illness for the past some years. Their financial condition is very weak. Sangita’s elder daughter is married and stays in Khadakwasla.
Rekha and Sangita hanged themselves in the kitchen of their house. Rekha’s son got up to drink water at night and saw the kitchen lamp on. He saw his mother and grandmother hanging from the ceiling of the kitchen. The Haveli police reached the spot after they were informed about the incident. They conducted a panchnama.
The suicide note written by Rekha was recovered from the spot. It stated: ‘My mother’s condition is very bad. Do not hold anyone responsible for our suicides. Do not bother our family members also.’
PSI Mohite is investigating the matter.
