Pune : Policenama online – Opposition Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is playing dirty politics over the invitation of inauguration of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar statue and the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the Chharapati Shivaji Maharaj statue on the PMC premises.

Opposition leader in PMC Deepali Dhumal alleged that the BJP planned the event in such a way that the opposition parties should not attend the event.

On Sunday, Union Minister Amit Shah unveiled the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and laid the foundation stone of Chharapati Shivaji Maharaj statue on the PMC premises.

Opposition leaders were also invited to the event. However, Deepali Dhumal criticised the ruling BJP for not inviting her to the event.

Dhumal has accused the ruling BJP of engaging in dirty politics to prevent her from attending the event.

Dhumal said the invitation for the event was received. However, its special pass was received at her home at 11 am. Shortly after she got the pass, a message came from the mayor’s office stating that an RT-PCR test was required to attend the event and its report was required.

In fact, it is dirty politics being played by the ruling BJP. Photos of the two great men have not been used on the programme hoardings.

Dhaumal said, “Why did the authorities not instruct the civic administration about the test report? They were aware that the test report would be received only 24 hours after the test.”

Dhumal blamed the BJP for this ‘deliberate act’. “We condemn this BJP tendency. We could not attend one of the important municipal events,” she said.
