Pune: A distressing incident unfolded in Nimgaon Ketaki village of Indapur, where a case has been registered against four individuals, including the sarpanch of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), following the tragic suicide of an employee. The deceased, identified as Sagar Ankush Vadapure, was employed as a driver at the Swarnayug Credit Society in the village.

The grievous turn of events prompted the brother of the deceased, Somnath Vadapure, to file a police complaint at the Indapur police station. Acting swiftly on the complaint, authorities apprehended Sarpanch Pravin Dongre, along with Sunanda Dongre, Mangesh Kudale, and Sunita Bhong, in connection with the case.

According to the plaintiff, Sagar Vadapure faced relentless harassment and mental torture at the hands of the accused after being accused by Sarpanch Pravin Dongre of stealing a gold chain from Dongre’s daughter. This false accusation led to Sagar’s dismissal from his job, following which he endured defamation and social ostracization within the village.

Tragically, overwhelmed by the continuous harassment and mental anguish inflicted upon him, Sagar Vadapure took the drastic step of ending his own life by hanging himself from a lemon tree on Saturday. Prompted by the plaintiff’s complaint, the Indapur police immediately booked all four accused for abetment of suicide and took them into custody, although no arrests have been made thus far.

Assistant Police Inspector Rajkumar Dunage of the Indapur Police Station is conducting further investigation into the case.
