The convicts have been identified as Lalit Deepak Khollam (36) and Mayur Dilip Raut (29), both residents of Gahunje, Maval taluka, Pune district. Chandan Rajkumar Sharma (28), a resident of Ambegaon Budruk and hailing from Rajasthan, had lodged a complaint at the Sinhagad police station. Additional Public Prosecutor Eknath Taralgatti appeared in the case.

Sharma had come to Pune from Rajasthan to study MBA in Sinhagad College. On August 13, 2015, he had gone to his friend’s house in Wakad and got down from a bus near Balewadi stadium on the Mumbai-Bengaluru stadium. He sat in a six-seater rickshaw and got down opposite PK Biryani House on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway.

A man came in a car and asked him where he wanted to go and told him to sit in the car. A person was already sitting in the car. The man instead of taking the car to Sinhagad College, took it towards Khed Shivapur. When Sharma questioned the driver, he took out a pistol and pointed at Sharma’s head and took away his mobile and cash of ₹50,000. Advocate Taralgatti demanded the maximum punishment for the accused. During the trial, senior PI Shailesh Sankhe and Inspector (crime) Jayant Rajurkar guided API Sanjay Jadhav, Police Constable Punekar, Jadhav and Gadhve played an important role.
