Woman kills daughter by throttling her, Murder case of three-year-old girl in Khadki solved
Pune : Policenama online – Pune Crime News | A shocking incident of a little girl being throttled by her mother and mother’s lover, because she was proving a hindrance in their affair, has come to light. The team of unit 4 of the Crime Branch was able to crack the murder case of the three-year-old girl. The accused have been identified as Santosh Devman Jamnik (25) and Laxmi Santosh Gavai (26), both residents of Kherpudi in Akola district. (Pune Crime News)
The body of a little girl had been found near CFD ground located between Khadki railway station and Khadki bazaar road on the afternoon of March 2. The police registered an FIR after it became clear that she had been throttled. Apart from Khadki police, the Crime Branch was also conducting a parallel investigation.
The death of the child had created a flutter. The identity of the three-year-old girl was not being ascertained. There was no CCTV in the area. The police saw a couple in CCTV footage in a shop on the Mumbai-Pune highway. The woman was carrying a little girl on her waist. The police reached Khadki railway station after tracing them. The couple was found leaving the Khadki railway station. The child’ legs on the woman’s waist were found to be straight and this made the police suspicious.
The man was wearing a T-shirt and it had a label of Sangharsh Group, Kherpudi. The police came to know that the village was located in Balapur in Akola taluka. DCP Amol Zende spoke to the local police and obtained information about the couple and he came to know that the couple was not in the village. Hence, the police started searching for them in Pune. The police came to know about their location after technical analysis. On Sunday evening, the team of unit 4 of the Crime Branch detained them.
The two decided to leave their village and come to Pune. They left their village on March 1. Laxmi had taken her daughter with her. The couple had a quarrel during their journey. Santosh beat up the girl with a belt and throttled her. The girl died. Both of them came to Khadki railway station. They dumped the body in an open ground and ran away. Since their information and the time in the CCTV footage was matching, the police handed them over to the Khadki police.
The action was taken by a team of police officials including Senior PI Ganesh Mane, API Vikas Jadhav, PSI Jaideep Patil, policemen Mahendra Pawar, Harish More, Ajay Gaikwad, Sanjay Adhari, Pravin Bhalchim, Vitthal Vavhal, Saras Salvi, Nageshsingh Kuvar, Vinod Maharajn, Swapnil Kamble, Ashok Shelar, Manoj Sangle, Sheetal Shinde and Vaishali Makdi under the guidance of Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.
