Crime Branch of Pimpri Chinchwad police: Two bookies arrested for accepting bets on IPL match

The arrested accused have been identified as Harish Dayaldas Gulani (46), a resident of Kalewadi and Kamal Gurmukhdas Sachdev (49), a resident of Pimpri. The unit 2 of the Crime Branch of Pimpri Chinchwad police had received information that some people were accepting large bets on an IPL match in a flat located in a posh society in Wakad.
After verifying the information, the police raided a flat in a posh society. At that time, Harish Gulani and Kamal Sachdev were watching the cricket match on the Cricket Live Guru app. The match is telecast on the app one ball earlier than on television. They were taking advantage of this and were accepting bets and sending it further to two bookies. Three mobiles, a notebook and gambling equipment totally worth ₹25,000 were seized. An FIR has been registered at the Wakad police station. Earlier also, unit 2 had arrested six bookies. FIRs are registered against them at the Pimpri and Chinchwad police stations.
The action was taken by PI Jitendra Kadam of unit 2, PSI Ganesh Mane, policemen Jaywant Raut, Pramod Vetal, Deva Raut and Sagar Avsare under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint CP Manoj Lohiya, Addl CP Dr Sanjay Shinde, DCP Swapna Gore and ACP Padmakar Ghanwat.
