PMC Budget: Rs 300 cr allocated for minor civic works, robust funds for ward offices in civic budget

Pune: As much as Rs 300 crore has been allocated for works to be undertaken by ward offices, maintenance-repairs and other ward-level works in the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Civic Budget 2024-25. More expenditure has been proposed for such minor works in this year’s civic budget as compared to last year.

Higher allocations have been made for new Metro routes, to buy 500 buses for the PMPML, drainage and missing link roads in the civic budget. The STP building under the Jaica Project and the River Front Development (RFD) have got a major share of funds for their expeditious completion. Beautification works will begin at three major lakes in the city. Solid-waste based power and hydrogen plants will be built. Rs 34 crore has been set aside for the ward-level works. Rs 129 crore has been allocated for works to be done by the ward offices.

Emphasis on completing ambitious projects

Huge funds have been allocated for the projects which were proposed during the BJP rule such as the RFD, the River Rejuvenation Project, Metro, Equitable Water Supply Plan, Prime Minister Awas Yojana. Emphasis is on completing the ongoing ambitious projects.

Rs 3,556 crore to be spent on civic employees

The Civic Budget proposes to spend Rs 5,093 crore on capital expenditure. Rs 3,556 has been earmarked for the civic employees. The expenditure has increased on account of new recruitment and the staff from the merged villages.
