KURKUMBH: Policenama online  – Pune Crime News | An employee of the fire brigade of the industrial area died on the spot after his two-wheeler was hit by an unidentified vehicle at Kurkumbh in Daund taluka on the Pune-Solapur national highway on Tuesday at 8 pm. (Pune Crime News)

The intensity of the accident was such that the vehicle dragged the body of the firemen for a long distance and half the body was mutilated and his vehicle caught fire. Local residents are demanding that effective action should be taken as accidents are happening at the spot regularly.

An unidentified vehicle hit the two-wheeler (MH14 EE 1727) being driven by Varil Sunil Purane (35), a resident of Kurkumbh industrial fire brigade colony, Daund taluka near the road divider opposite a restaurant and he was seriously injured resulting in his instant death.

Since the unidentified vehicle dragged Purane’s body for a long distance, half of his body was mutilated. Since the vehicle was dragged, it led to friction and the two-wheeler caught fire. This reveals the intensity of the accident. Since the body was mutilated, his identity could not be ascertained.

However, late in the night, the body was identified. Because of the road divider, vehicles, villagers, passengers and animals cross the road from here. Vehicles coming from Pune travel at a high speed due to the slope at the spot.

While crossing the road, if vehicles are approaching, the drivers cannot spot pedestrians which leads to accidents. Hence, the spot has become very dangerous and many accidents have taken place. Local residents are demanding that effective measures should be taken to prevent mishaps.
