Pune : Policenama onlinePune Cantonment Board | The collection of vehicle entry tax (VET) has been stopped in the limits of Pune Cantonment Board. The central government has issued an order to the PCB in the form of a gazette. Hence, PCB issued an order to the toll collection office not to collect tax after midnight of April 13. The tax was a main source of income for PCB. The board used to get a revenue of ₹13 crore per year as tax collected at toll collection centres located at 13 offices.

Although the income of PCB is going to be reduced after the Centre’s order, the common man has welcomed the decision. PCB’s financial condition is not so good. It has been waiting for many years to get its share of GST and now with the scrapping of VET, the situation has become critical. The residents of the cantonment have received a boost after the stoppage of collection of VET.
