Pune : Policenama online – Iconic Mahabharat TV serial-fame actor Nitish Bharadwaj, who played Shri Krishna’s role, has sought divorce from his wife Smita Gate (IAS). They have twin daughters, who are staying with their mother in Indore.
Nitish and Smita got married in 2009. In an interview with Bombay Times, Nitish said, ‘Yes, I applied for divorce with my wife in the Family Court in Mumbai in September 2019. I do not want to talk about the reasons behind my decision. The matter is still sub judice. I can only say that sometimes, divorce could be more painful than death’. Nitish and Smita’s was the second marriage.
Speaking about their marriage, Nitish said, ‘There are many reasons behind a divorce. Sometimes, it happens due to extreme attitudes or ego or self-centered attitudes. However, when a family breaks, children suffer the most. It is the responsibility of parents to see to it that it does not have a negative impact on their children’.
Nitish had first married with Monisha Patil in 1991. They also have two children, a son and a daughter. They separated in 2005.
