PUNE : Pune Metro | The Hinjewadi-Shivaji Nagar and Vanaz-Ramwadi metro routes converge at Shivaji Nagar metro station. Since the stations on both routes are different, it is likely to cause convenience to commuters and hence, both the stations are going to be linked by a new pedestrian way.

The expenditure for the bridge will be ₹3 crore. The proposal was okayed by the Pune Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (PUMTA), said Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Vikram Kumar.

A meeting of PUMTA was held recently. Officials of PCMC, PMRDA, MahaMetro, RTO, PMPML, Traffic Department and other departments were present.

The work on the Vanaz to Ramwadi and Shivaji Nagar to Hinjewadi routes is progressing at a fast pace.
The Metro service on the Vanaz to Garware College will be extended to Ruby Hall Clinic soon. Vanaz-Ramwadi, Swargate-Pimpri and Shivaji Nagar-Hinjewadi metro routes converge at Shivaji Nagar. The work on the two routes is being executed by MahaMetro and PMRDA is executing Shivaji Nagar to Hinjewadi project.

There is a distance of 160 metres between MahaMetro and PMRDA metro stations. Since these metro stations are not connected, commuters will have to disembark at one station to go to another station. Since this will inconvenience commuters, PMRDA and MahaMetro have decided to build two extra floors to build a pedestrian way. There will be an expenditure of ₹3 crore and PMRDA and MahaMetro are going to provide 50 pc of the cost.

Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar said, “The Hinjewadi-Shivaji Nagar and Vanaz-Ramwadi routes converge at Shivaji Nagar. However, commuters will have to disembark and cover the 160 metre distance. To prevent any inconvenience, two floors will be built and both these stations will be connected by a pedestrian way.”
