Pune: Policenama online – Karuna Sharma arrested | The Yerawada police on Tuesday arrested Karuna Sharma-Munde in connection with the atrocity case. She was apprehended in Mumbai. A 23-year-old girl has lodged a complaint at the Yerawada police station. Based on the complaint, the police arrested her husband and Karuna Sharma.
After the case was registered, on Monday night, a team of Yerawada police had left for Mumbai. On Tuesday, the police apprehended Karuna Sharma and the complainant’s husband in Mumbai and brought them to Pune. ACP Kishore Jadhav said that they will be arrested and produced in the court on Tuesday.
According to the police, the complainant and her husband used to stay in Osmanabad and they have a daughter. In November 2011, her husband got acquainted with Karuna Sharma. She identifies herself as Karuna Munde. Later, they settled in Pune. Her husband used to always talk with Karuna Sharma. When she asked her husband about this, he started harassing her. Her husband told her that he wanted to marry Karuna and he dropped her at her mother’s house. On February 16, 2022 her husband came to her parents’ house and forcefully had sex with her.
On April 24, he took her to Bhosari on the pretext of attending a programme. Karuna Sharma abused her and brandished a hockey stick and threatened to kill her.
The complainant went to Karuna Sharma’s residence in Green building in Santacruz on June 3 to search for her husband. Her husband called up Karuna Sharma. Karuna abused her and told her to divorce her husband and threatened to kill her, the complaint says.
