Alandi : Pune Police News | The palanquin ceremony of Sri Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, which commenced on Ashadhi Ekadashi in Pandharpur, reached Alandi on Wednesday, July 12th. As the palanquin neared the revered Paduka temple, devotees flocked to catch a glimpse of the procession.

During the festivities, a devoted woman rushed under the chariot to seek darshan. The police personnel assigned to provide security acted swiftly, risking their own lives to save the woman. However, in the process, one of the policemen sustained injuries.

 

Reports state that the palanquin of Shri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj was en route from Pune to Alandi in the morning. By afternoon, it had reached Thorya Paduka, where numerous devotees were eagerly awaiting its arrival. Amidst the fervor, a woman was observed hastily going underneath the chariot to seek blessings. Dighi police station constable Ravindra Santram Pathe and Rahul Suresh Karande, an RCP platoon constable from the Pimpri Chinchwad police force, who were deployed for the palanquin arrangement, promptly intervened and rescued the woman from danger.

 

Regrettably, in the process of saving the woman, Ravindra Pathe’s foot was run over by the chariot wheel, resulting in a fracture. Additionally, Rahul Karande sustained injuries. The courageous actions of these policemen, who risked their own well-being to protect the life of a devotee, have garnered appreciation from all quarters. Meanwhile, condolences and prayers for a speedy recovery have been extended to Ravindra Pathe, who suffered the fracture. Both injured policemen are currently receiving treatment at KK Hospital.
