Pimpri News: Property tax dues of ₹200 crore recovered by PCMC; Seized properties to be auctioned

PIMPRI: Policenama online -Pimpri News | The tax collection department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is concentrating on collecting unpaid dues. In the 2023-24 financial year, dues worth ₹201 crore have been recovered. Seizure notices have been sent to 41,307 people and seizure letters have been sent to 36,719 property owners. There are six lakh registered properties including residential, industrial, non-residential, mixed and open plots in the city. The tax collection department is collecting taxes from these people. So far, taxes worth ₹604 crore have been collected. Now, a drive has been undertaken to seize properties and property owners are promptly paying tax dues.

Property owners owed a lot of taxes to the civic body. Since the dues were not being paid, the backlog kept on increasing. Hence, the civic body is focusing on collection of dues. Since property owners are inclined to pay their tax dues, in 2022-23 and 2023-24 so far, dues of ₹555 crore have been collected. Mainly, dues have been collected from owners of residential and non-residential properties. The department has sent seizure notices to 41,307 people and seizure letters to 36,719 property owners. Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh said that these property owners owe ₹600 crore to the civic body.

The seized properties would be auctioned and a plan about carrying out the auction has been prepared. Addl Commissioner Pradip Jambhle-Patil said that efforts are being made to ensure that there are no lacunae.
